2. EDWARD2 GREANEY (MORRIS1) was born Abt. 1820 in Limerick, Ireland, and died November 25, 1890 in Exeter, New Hampshire. He married (1) ELIZABETH CAHILL in Ireland. She was born 1823 in Ireland, and died October 31, 1876 in Exeter, New Hampshire. He married (2) ABBY CURRAN July 17, 1883, daughter of PATRICK CURRAN and MARGARET. Notes for EDWARD GREANEY: Edward Greaney and wife Elizabeth Cahill obviously were married in Ireland. They emigrated via Liverpool, England and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on 15 August 1857 with 2 young sons. They lived at 12 River Street, Exeter, New Hampshire in later years with #2 son Edward and his wife Elizabeth Tracey (Per Federal Census). Edward Greaney’s wife Elizabeth died in 1876. Second wife Mary Carigan/Cadigan died 4 April 1882 and is buried near but all alone at Exeter’s Linden Street Cemetary between the newer Graney lot and oldest Greaney lot. 3rd wife Abby Curran married 17 July 1883 and is the daughter of Patrick and Margaret Curran). It is unknown where she is buried. CHILDREN of EDWARD GREANEY and ELIZABETH CAHILL are:
3. This lot at Holy Cross Cemetary, Malden, Mass was purchased in August 1908 by Morris Graney/Greaney; wife buried 8 August 1908. There are no monumonts and no headstones. The dates are the dates they were buried except for Maurice; have DC on him. There is room for 6 more in that lot. Maurice F (1910-1982) son of Michael & Nora is buried here too but not wife Alice V (O’Neal) Graney. She and son Paul buried in Billerica. Obituary for Joanna Doody, single, said that she in later years was living with relative in Cambridge, Mass. Most likely she was with Margaret and Joanna. Joanna Doody died 14 October 1934 and is buried in Exeter, New Hampshire with parents and brothers/sisters. Children of MORRIS/MAURICE GREANEY and JOHANNA MURPHY are:
4. Child of MICHAEL GREANEY and JULIA BRODERICK is:
5. Notes for JOHN DOODY: Father John Doody’s monument reads” Co “C” 6th Regiment, New 1900 Federal Census shows Margaret, Joanna, Michael living, and that she had seven children but I could find only these 5 children. Most of this copied from headstones at cemetary and obits. Mother Margaret (Greaney) was an Exeter resident for 57 years in 1911 listed on her death certificate therefore she emigrated about 1854 at age 16 (maybe came same time as oldest brother Edward). Mother Margaret’s brother Michael Greaney died 19 January 1918 and is buried with the Doody Family which is close by the 3 Greaney/Graney lots at Linden Street Cemetary and Michael’s monument reads “Grampa” rather than “Uncle”. He should have been buried with only daughter Johanna Broderick. Daughter Joanna Doody, single, in later years was living with relatives in Cambridge, MA so said Exeter Newspaper Obituary 19 October 1934. Most likely Michael Greaney 1869-1917 and Nora Theresa’s two spinster daughters Joanna and Margaret, both old spinster ladies who died in 1912. Son Michael died in Bellows Falls, Vermont Hospital of pneumonia (why Vermont?) Had worked years at Exeter Machine Foundry and later lived in Manchester, New Hampshire. Obit suggests he was singled and unmarried. Children of MARGARET GREANEY and JOHN DOODY are:
